1- julie and julia. probably most of you have seen this (or at least heard reviews of it), but last night was my first time seeing it. yes, it is about two women who love to cook. but for me, even more than that, i think it is about the relationship between these women and the wonderful men who encourage and support them to do what they love to do.*
2- the young victoria. this was a recommendation from a friend and i have to say, it more than exceeded my expectations. it's the story of queen victoria and her husband and love of her life, prince albert. it documents how they met and fell in love, the struggles she went though as a young soverign and how they were there for each other, supporting one another though it all. i cried numerous times because it was so touching. if you like true love...see it.
so there you have it. if you don't have enough valentine's day fodder, here's some more for your fire. whether you like the movie theater or you prefer redbox, i highly recommend both of these movies.
*i have a husband like this. from day one he has always encouraged me to find my bliss and never imposed any preconceived ideas on me. if i want to be a stay-at-home mom, he wants that. and if i want to work part- or full-time thoughout my life, he's all for it. and so on and so on... yes, chris is wonderful.

AAHHH! I loved The Young Victoria SO MUCH. I really liked Julie and Julia too, but goodness. I'm completely in love with The Young Victoria.
I LOVE Julie & Julia. Have you read the book? It's quite different from the movie and not nearly so Amy-Adams-sweet, but I love them both equally. I haven't seen Young Victoria yet but it's on my list!
no i haven't read the book... i've heard that it's pretty vulgar so i'm not as interested in it. but you should definitely see young victoria! i hope it comes to the dollar theater because then i would watch it over and over again.

She is pretty crass, so it's definitely not for everyone. The thing I loved was that, except for the language, she sounded like a lot of my friends--kind of crazy, fully aware of her imperfections, and running herself into the ground trying to accomplish something she can feel good about. It's really too bad there isn't an edited version... It'd be worth it. :)
