6 months

thom turned 6 months on friday.  wow.  where has time gone?  can i just reminisce a little bit and say that it seems like he was just a tiny little babe, helpless and floppy, who couldn't sleep through the night and made little whimpers instead of cries.... oh how things have changed.

he is now 6 months old, he is such a good sleeper, he makes full-sized cries, as well as "talks" to me in his little babble-y voice (i can't get enough of that!!), and is so much fun to be around!  yes, thom brings my life so much joy.  and now i can honestly say - i love being a mom.

thom loves:
-oranges.  chris gives them to him and he sucks all the pulp and juice right out!  we have to be careful or he will try to eat the whole orange (which would be hazardous because he doesn't have any teeth for chomping yet!)
-chomping on toys, ribbons, measuring cups, hands, feet, you name it.
-to babble.  sometimes when i'm singing to him, his voice moves up and down and gets sing-songey like he's trying to sing, too.  i love it.
-banging on the mailbox.
-bath time.
-ladies.  he is absolutely a ladies man.  he stares, and smiles, and love the attention he gets from ladies.  relief society is hilarious.  he really cheeses it up there.
-to play peek-a-boo, to get tickled, to play airplane, to swing at the park, and just to goof around in general
-other children.  he is getting to be quite social and loves being around other kids, though i'm starting to see a little bit what might be the beginnings of "stranger anxiety."  that comes and goes, though.
-going on adventures with mom and dad and seeing new things (the beach, the grocery store...everything is exciting to him).
first time sitting in the grocery cart.  he loved it.

christmas tree hunting

of course he was more interested in chomping his binkie than looking at trees

always trying to grab everything, camera included.

thom hates:
-having his nose suctioned (he has a cold right now and needs it done a few times a day.  saaaaad.)
-the vacuum.  the noise always scares him and he cries.
-being left alone.  he's not very good at entertaining himself for very long yet.  we're working on this one.

thom can:
-sit up on his own for a few minutes.  some times he is better at balancing than other times.  he does not like falling over and bonking his head.  at.  all.
-eat baby mush!  he loves trying new foods and we love letting him try them.
-stand with support.
-reach and grab ANYthing that is close to him.
-sleep from 7 pm to 2 or 3 am without waking up on a regular basis.
-go down for naps easily when he's sleepy.  i just cuddle him for a few minutes, sometimes we read a book or two if he needs to wind down a little bit, and then i put him in his crib, give him his blankie, and he rolls to his side and snuggles up to it and falls asleep.  it is precious.
-roll over when his diaper is being changed.  always.  i have to be really fast now.  :)

snuggles with blankie and giraffe.
sitting up!
