20 week ultrasound

we had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday (the one where they can determine if it's a boy or girl). wow. what an amazing experience. it is finally feeling like i'm going to be a mommy and i'm getting so EXCITED about it! it's been a bit surreal up to this point. but now i can feel the baby wiggle around inside of me and i have a visual image of what she looks like and how big she is and all that. oops! i guess i just gave it away but...we're expecting a GIRL! yes, we'll have a little princess in a few short months and we can't wait. here are some pics.

this is the shot where you can tell it's a girl. you're looking straight at her bum, which is at the bottom of the screen, with her legs on the right and left. obviously there are no boy parts. but the nurse also pointed out the three white dots on the screen and said those are her developing female genitalia. isn't it amazing that they can tell that by three little dots?

here was our first glimpse at what our baby looks like. pretty cute, eh? and she sucks her thumb, just like her momma did.

i like to think that she's smiling in this picture because she's as excited to meet her parents as we are to meet her.

the best part of the day was when the ultrasound technician said that the baby appeared to be very healthy and doing well. when the midwife examined the sonogram data and measured me and said everything was "practically perfect in every way." maybe we'll name our baby mary poppins. nah... so yeah, we're right on schedule for june 3rd; the baby is growing normally and so am i! great news and an overall amazing day!
