dreaming of warm days to come

utah winters are miserable for me. i'm not a fan of cold feet, cold hands, or cold ears, which i seem to perpetually have during the winters here. the first few days of snow are nice (as long as you're inside enjoying them) because it feels crisp and looks beautiful. but after a month or two of snow, when the snow is grey slush from where the cars have run over it and there are huge piles of old snow from where the plows have piled it, i have to admit that i get sick of it. thankfully, the days are getting longer now (it's 4:30 and the sun is still out!) but all i can dream of is warm sunshine, flowy, cotton skirts, and flip-flop sandals. summertime can't come soon enough.

but wait, there's good news! this will be the last winter we spend in freezer-box utah! in june, about 3 weeks after the baby is born (if all goes according to plan), we'll be heading off to the sunshiney land of tejas. chris has an internship in houston with chevron for july and august--thank you, perry!--and then we'll be off somewhere new for chris' grad school. i'm setting my hopes on UT austin. it's a great school, a great city, close to my parents and sister, AND we wouldn't have to move that far from houston. i'd also be happy with university of north carolina (i've always pictured the carolinas as romantic, mountainous, open land and a picturesque place to live) but it would be a farther move.

anyway...regardless of where we go to grad school, we'll be in houston in july and august - yep, that's plenty warm for me, thanks. :)
