-first i would eat only fresh produce and dairy. nothing else sounded even remotely edible (besides, of course, those lovely saltine crackers). tomatoes were my favorite and i ate them like apples. honestly, like one or two a day. deeeelicious.
-towards the end of my first trimester when food actually started smelling and sounding ok to eat, i craved tater tots. ok, not so healthy but i only gave in a few times.
-then i ate spaghetti and meatballs about once or twice a day for a little over a week at the beginning of my second trimester. funny thing...chris suggested meatballs with our pasta a few nights ago and i almost gagged. overkill! i don't know if i'll be able to enjoy meatballs again for a long, long time.
-also, sweet, gummy candy. i've been good up to this point about generally avoiding sweets. but i had some starbursts the other night and those reminded me how much i love haribo gummi bears, and i went on a little sugar-spree last week. hopefully this desire has passed. i'm such a sucker for sugar.
-chips and salsa!! mmm...sounds good, doesn't it? this is where i am at right now. i've eat it daily for the past week but i realize that i can't continue this trend for fear of non-removable postpartum weight. i was thinking last night, "maybe if i have to make my own tortilla chips i'll eat fewer because i'm so lazy and won't want to make them all the time." so once i finish this bag i'm going to have to make my own if i want to eat them. and i'll make my own salsa, too. there's this amazing recipe for moroccan lentil salsa that is to die for - way healthier than the processed, store-bought crap i've been eating and more delicious, too! overall, i just to keep it healthy and eat well so i don't stay fat forever after the baby. i don't deny myself anything unreasonable; i just try to keep it all in moderation. i made a chart yesterday of how much of which kinds of foods i need to eat each day and now i'm keeping track to make sure i get everything baby and i need. goal for the next week: keep the chips and salsa to a moderate level.
